Realrich Architecture Workshop First Office, a 110 sqm haven in a crowded gated community in West Jakarta, tests two hypotheses: Can a small office foster creativity and community through bioclimatic design and natural materials? How can a dual-structure layout adapt to Jakarta’s climate while balancing privacy and openness? Built within a 150 sqm plot, it integrates with the main house’s garage and garden, reflecting its “RAW” ethos of bare, honest craftsmanship.

The facade, a dotted exposed plywood grid with concrete and black-painted accents, shields the west side for privacy while opening north-south for ventilation, crafted by local artisans for efficiency and warmth. The office splits into two structures: an outdoor plywood meeting space in the garden, housing the OMAH Library for architectural talks, and a garage workspace with a mezzanine for material storage and private work. The open meeting area serves as a courtyard-like space, fostering community engagement. The landscape, minimally altered, features native plants along the garden edge, softening the urban plot.

With flexible interiors—rooms with multiple access points—and passive cooling, the office maintains comfort at minimal cost. This modest workspace proves small-scale design can nurture creativity and connection through local craft and climatic harmony.
