Chris Stevi House is born from a hypothesis: “Can a home nestled among towering 15-meter trees create an introspective sanctuary that balances privacy, nature, and efficiency without using fences?” Set in a lush, shaded lot dominated by three majestic trees, this residence transforms the challenge of privacy into an opportunity to craft a serene, introverted haven that celebrates its verdant surroundings.
The design begins with a hook-shaped promenade, guiding visitors through a 20-meter-long brick partition wall that ensures privacy without enclosing the site. This wall creates a sheltered courtyard where one of the grand trees stands as a natural centerpiece, offering a tranquil sanctuary. The house itself is positioned at a distance from the trees to preserve their roots and enhance the sense of openness. The living room, with expansive openings, flows seamlessly into the courtyard, creating a wide, airy connection to nature while maintaining an intimate, introspective feel.
On the second floor, two children’s bedrooms and a study are arranged in a curved layout, with windows strategically placed to frame views of the treetops, showcasing the trees as natural art. Multiple cantilevered canopies extend outward, providing shade from the sun while offering shaded nooks for sitting and quiet contemplation. These canopies also conceal the staircase, enhancing privacy and efficiency. The maid’s quarters, operational spaces, and MEP systems are tucked discreetly at the rear, ensuring a compact, functional layout.
The architectural language is understated yet efficient, using local brick and wood to blend with the natural setting. The curved forms and open spaces create a dynamic flow, with the trees as focal points. By prioritizing privacy through clever spatial planning and celebrating the existing trees, Chris Stevi House delivers a serene, efficient sanctuary that feels both hidden and deeply connected to its lush, and environment.e the natural aesthetic. Accessibility is prioritized with ramps and bordes pathways, ensuring inclusivity.
